Due to their small size, bouncy personalities and wanting to be underfoot, homes with children over 10 years old would be best. We believe there were a few cats in the home so she should be ok with cats. They have not been exposed to larger dogs so we prefer to place them with dogs 30# and under at this time. ![]() ?Since they were in a home with over 40 small dogs, they should be fine with like-sized dogs. ?Having previous/current pets in annually at a local veterinary office and up to date on vaccines as well as spay/neutered. A blend of the two will keep your heart and home full of love?ĭue to their small size and increased energy levels, foster to adopt requirements are: Shih Tzus, also called "lion dogs" are affectionate, outgoing and charming little dogs that get to be ~15# full grown while Maltese's are affectionate, adaptable little toy breed watchdogs bred solely to be companions. Though low shedding, their hair needs to be brushed several times per week and they need groomed/clipped normally every 6-8 weeks (~$60-$70) to prevent mats from getting bad like they were with these poor pups and all the dogs in the home. With their long, soft coat, Shih Tzu's (and Maltese's) have some pretty extensive coat care that needs to be done to keep them in proper shape. It's a win-win! If fosters fall in love within the first few weeks, they have first option to adopt once fully vetted. ![]() We are looking for foster to adopt homes to continue their socialization and training until they can get booster vaccines and are old enough to spay neuter in 4-6weeks. This weekend our puppies will be 8 weeks old and we would like to get them in to foster to adopt homes of their own! These Maltese/Shih tzu mixes came from a not so good beginning but they are ready to get a fresh start at fresh new lives! ![]()
